Monday bourbon review

đŸ„ƒ BOURBON REVIEW: WHISTLEPIG 15 YEAR

Yes, I know it’s rye.

Don’t start.

Tonight we’re reviewing WhistlePig 15 Year, which is a bottle I currently do not own due to sanctions imposed by the United States Department of Jan.

Apparently there is a price point where “supporting your husband’s bourbon hobby” becomes:

“Absolutely the fuck not.”

So I had to drink this one at a bar like a goddamn foster child.

First sip?

Ohhhh, that’s good.

Second sip?

Maybe too good.

Third sip?

I started doing household math.

We don’t really need groceries EVERY week.

This thing is smooth, rich, a little spicy, with caramel, vanilla, oak and just enough sweetness to make a grown man think he can successfully hide a several-hundred-dollar purchase from the woman who has access to the exact same bank account.

Nose: Expensive.

Taste: Financial irresponsibility.

Finish: Longer than the argument Jan and I would have if I brought this motherfucker home.

Price: None of my business, apparently.

Score: 9.4/10

Would I drink it again?

Absolutely.

Would I buy it?

I have been advised by council to plead the 5th as granted by the United States Constitution.

Would I accept one as a gift?

Listen carefully.

My birthday is July 17.

Until next week, drink good whiskey, tip your bartender, and remember:

Marriage is about compromise.

Jan says I can’t buy WhistlePig 15.

And I have compromised by drinking it somewhere she can’t return it.
